Research Interests

Dr. Jonathan K. Stiles researches the pathogenesis of CNS infections, especially cerebral malaria and African trypanosomiasis. His main research areas include:  Pathogen-induced brain encephalopathy and neuropathy associated with cerebral malaria and African trypanosomiasis.  He also develops interventions against Immunopathogenesis of CNS injury associated with sickle cell disease.  He utilizes bioinformatics, functional genomics, and proteomics in human, murine and in vitro models to study mechanisms mediating CNS pathology.
